Objective

Notes:
The Objective refers to what your students can do after the lesson. For example, in “The Lady or The Tiger” lesson, the objective would be “Students will be able to identify and diagram the plot line in a given story.”
The Objective refers to the Focus of the Lesson, as seen in the previous slide.

The Objective tries to reach higher-level cognitive skills as listed in Bloom’s Taxonomy. For those you who don’t know about Bloom, here are the levels of cognitive skills from lowest to highest: Knowledge, Comprehension, Application, Analysis, Synthesis, and Evaluation. In my example, my Objective reaches for Knowledge (the identification) and Application (the
diagramming).

The Objective can be measured in an assessment technique. For example, I can ask my students to name the parts of the plot
 line and then diagram the parts on a chart. That chart becomes the measurement of how the student met my Objective.
